Jesus Loves You
Does Jesus love me? This is a question that has been asked for centuries by so many people. It is such a simple question, but it carries so much weight. Before we answer that question, we have to ask another one. Why does this question carry so much weight? Knowing whether or not we are loved by Jesus is massively beneficial seeing how our Christian faith is based on if Jesus loves me and you.
To truly know if we are loved, we need to step back in time and examine the way that Jesus loved others. He showed love and compassion for all people. Luke writes in his Gospel account of Jesus' ministry, "...Jesus cured many people of their diseases, illnesses, and evil spirits, and he restored sight to many who were blind." (Luke 7:21 NLT) Jesus was focused on serving people and meeting their needs even if it didn't seem like the correct thing to do from other people's perspectives. Not only did He heal and serve people throughout his entire life, He commanded us to do the same. "...Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." (John 13:34-35 NLT) Does that mean that we need to go around healing people on the spot, no. That means that we need to pray for others and treat people as we would want to be treated. Be nice and kind to other people, and they will be able to notice that you have something that is setting you apart.
You are so deeply loved by Jesus, even more than our minds can comprehend. Could you imagine being nailed to a cross and dying a miserable death for someone else? That is what Jesus did for me and you. John writes, "There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." (John 15:13-14 NLT) What does Jesus mean when He says if you follow my command, He is referring to loving one other. Jesus loves us so we need to love one another.
